Review of Ward 3

Because each of your questions relate to the medical staff each one of whom varied between very good to outstanding.

Suggested improvements
Your questionnaire is incomplete. It is restricted to the behaviour and performance of the medical staff and there are no questions concerning the organisation as a whole. In particular, you fail to ask how the administration and bureaucracy impacted on my overall experience of the NHS. In these areas there are some serious shortcomings. The organisation as a whole seems to be slow and cumbersome with a number of computer system inadequacies that make it impossible for the NHS to carry out some tasks that are possible from the average desktop or laptop computer. Medical staff's jobs are made even harder as they work to deal with the problems that arise from inadequate administration whilst caring for their patients. The NHS would benefit from a radical reorganisation of its management, part of which would be to replace civil servants with people from successful industries who are results rather than task orientated. If the NHS were to achieve the same level of efficiency as, for instance, Amazon, it would be less top heavy and more effective as efficiency improvements would release resources, presently being wasted in unnecessary bureaucracy, for front line medical care, where they are really needed.

Review of Ward 3
7th May 2021

I cannot fault the high standards of treatment and care I received throughout my stay in Ward 3. Every level of staff treated me with the uttermost care, consideration , respect and courtesy. Despite this being a traumatic time for me, the members of staff were supportive and through their professionalism I was made to feel at ease with the situation.

Nothing!

Just a few minor niggles mainly about pain management.

Suggested improvements
Better pain management. Being left in pain for 20 minutes seems like hours at the time. Medications should be in place straight away. You should not be left in pain for 12 hours while pharmacy and doctors sort things.

Suggested improvements
Had to wait from 7.00 am until 3.30 pm from mirror operation time for operation could have been in a tighter window?/nCar parking fees and machinery very stressful. Wife waiting in car park could not work machine. Patients should not have to pay exorbitant fees. Should be pay on learning because do not know how long one will have to wait for operation.
